They subtly pushed for insurance, but the car was downgraded. They gave us a Stelvio even though there was a Q5 in the garage.

No issues with the paperwork, but the pick-up point was a bit rundown, and there wasn’t enough staff. There are just too many people renting cars in Sicily, and the staff seemed overwhelmed, plus the sun outside was scorching.

The car rental company replaced the car with a Volvo. The vehicle was very new, having only been driven a little over 10,000 kilometers.

Picking up the car was a very unpleasant experience. After travelling for 15 hours and walking 15 minutes to the car rental facility with all of our luggage there was no order at the rental counter. There did not seem to be a line and everyone was crammed into the small space to rent cars. Took some time to find the kiosk to sign in to get a "number" but had to listen for our name to be called. Then it was high pressure to buy additional insurance which I did not want to buy. I had to argue with the woman at the counter to decline the insurance. It took more than an hour to get the car. Thankfully, drop off was quick and easy.

Very easy to use. Wish service at Europcar was as easy
