One of the better car rental experiences I’ve had.

Counter person was nice and asked me if I wanted insurance I said no(it was on my paperwork as well) She had me initial all the no's) went to the next step got in the car started driving made it to the first stop looked at my envelope that the counter girl gave me and she'd typed in ACCEPTED for a $25 per day insurance add on. I called and waited for 15 minutes to get a representative only for her to say 'you'll have to drive back to the airport to have them change this" I explained I was in route to an event miles from there, and I'd like to speak to her supervisor...she put me on hold and I waited 19 minutes before I hung up. Called again when I had a rest stop and got another agent that said I had to send in a claim to the headquarters? He gave me a case number. I took back the car at the end of my rental and explained to the return clerk what happened and within 30 seconds the fee was taken off. Almost an hour of unnerving and frustrating time spent. Seems like a common sense answer was ''sure, we'll handle this' ...Of course along with answering the phone after 3 - 4 rings. Suggestion, take them off your list...

Hello, This is in regard to the above booking reference that I reserved for last week in Boston. Upon arrival at Logan Airport and standing at the Payless counter, I was told that the "Jeep Grand Cherokee" wasn't avalible & I had to settle for something comparable which I understand 100%. I was then given a Chevy Equinox which is an entry level SUV not a mid size SUV like I had requested, I complained to the agent to no avail. In the auto/rental car industry "Comparable" with the Jeep Grand Cherokee should be something like a Ford Explore, Chevrolet Traverse or a Pathfinder... not a Equinox. I am a big guy (5'11 300 lb) I don't mind driving the Equinox but I wanted something more roomy and thats why I chose the Jeep and paid $469.95. I asked for some sort of a discount at the counter but it seems that I was speaking with a Robot without any customer service skills. In todays Social Media World (Big Fan) every rental car company should pick it up a notch and stay competitive with the Avis's of the world. This was my first time renting a car from Payless. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly, although I did feel a bit pressured by his fast-speaking and lack of explanation of the contract. Also, be careful of purchasing insurance through PAYLESS, they will try to sneak in "extras" that you don't need. Check in and check out was a breeze though, and that was a nice relief. Overall, would rent from them again.

I somehow was charged almost three times what I was quoted.

Like: car was comfortable and fuel efficient
Dislike: quite a distance from airport....but that could have allowed for a lower rate
