I have rented cars abroad many times in Europe, but my experience with Europcar in London was exceptionally troublesome and disappointing. I strongly advise against choosing this company in London. From the very beginning, the car pickup staff try to sell insurance and make intimidating remarks, followed by complicated processes involving various fines, and ending with a series of email hassles related to returning the car. For such a large company, their London branch is full of pitfalls, fines, and inexplicable issues that will cause you significant trouble. The service and overall experience are extremely poor. Among all the car rental companies I have used many times, this one is by far the most frustrating and stressful. Renting a car is supposed to enhance convenience, especially when traveling abroad where there may already be language barriers, but this company will ensure you deal with endless issues during your trip. Choose wisely, and I strongly suggest avoiding this company in London.

Arrived at pick-up to find that booking had been cancelled without notification and no cars available. Directed to an alternate pick-up an hour away where only available car was more expensive

Picked up the car at Norwich airport. Check in process was smooth. However, the car had a lot of minor dents and scratches on it.. Spent some time reviewing these damages against the ones listed on the system. Booking system was not working so got a manual confirmation advice. Car interiors were good and got a free sat nav upgrade..

Europcar had only one agent who was tied up with two clients which caused me to have to wait 40 minutes before he could book me out - I took 5 minutes to process.

Like: Friendly and efficient staff; vehicle in good condition and excellent service on dropping off.
Dislike: I had ordered an automatic transmission vehicle but a manual transmission vehicle was allotted to me at pick-up. I came to know this until I got on the vehicle to check. It spent me another 30 minutes to wait for the change of vehicle and felt frustrated. I hope that Europcar would check the order carefully and the same thing would not happen to other customers again.
