Not a bad driving experience for out Europe trip.

They didn't have the Focus I wanted. At first, they gave me an MG4, which I declined. Then they offered a Jeep Avenger. I thought it was a sedan where I could hide luggage, but all the cars turned out to be hatchbacks. Thankfully, the trunk had a black cover so luggage inside wasn't visible from outside.

Hertz, being a large company, generally provides good service at their locations. At 9 AM, there was no queue, and there were two staff members available. Although they tried to upsell insurance, you can simply decline it. They were able to fulfill my booking requests, and the staff spoke decent English. I originally booked a Fiat 500 manual, but they didn't have the car available. They first asked if I wanted to upgrade to a Fiat 500 automatic for a fee, which I declined. Eventually, they upgraded me to a compact SUV from a brand I hadn't heard of, DR., which upon research turned out to be a rebadged Chery Tiggo. Considering that I would be driving mostly in the Swiss countryside, the higher ground clearance was acceptable. The car had over 40,000 kilometers on it but was in good, clean condition. If I had been driving mainly in Italy, I would have rejected it due to the challenges of parking a vehicle of that size in urban areas.

Thrifty is quite efficient in their car rental process. It seems like everything is well organized, and there’s nothing particularly remarkable, but everything is under control.

Using Hertz for car renting in US a great pleasure.Italy is a totally different story.Customer service is very poor.My car broke down 40 minutes after pick up.Getting in touch with someone who at list speaks some english is almost impossible.After being stranded in the middle of nowhere for several long hours we finally got "road assistance".They simply picked they broken car and .....left us on the street with the luggage and kids in the dark.Next day,we got condition report claiming that we broke the driver side mirror with the pictures dated two weeks before we even arrived to Milan.To be even more confident.....they photoshoped my signature below....Really hard to believe,i know,but this is what my family had to come accross with.Stay away....or at list be extrimely carefull.... At the end,got the full invoice,like i used the vehicle the entire time...
