Choosing Europecar for car rental in Germany was a great decision, and it turned out to be equally good in Portugal. I prefer avoiding complications, so I booked the basic insurance online and purchased full insurance on-site. If the car gets scratched in the parking lot, you don't have to worry since it's covered by the insurance. Returning the car was a bit tricky, as I had to circle around several times; the navigation was incorrect and I had to ask for directions. To find the return location, navigate to 'Arrival,' and you should see signs for 'Car Return,' or follow signs for 'rent-a-car.' Near the airport's arrival exit, there are fewer signs, so pay extra attention. If renting from an airport location, keep in mind that many lower-cost options might require a shuttle bus for pick-up.

As always, the process was smooth, with a thorough and quick vehicle inspection.

Picking up the car (excluding the waiting time in line) took over an hour. This car rental experience was terrible. Due to someone with the same name having a poor rental history, my pickup process took an hour. On top of that, I was charged for a minor scratch that wasn't noticed during the initial inspection (the car was casually checked during pickup but inspected meticulously with a magnifying glass during return). Additionally, the car's overall condition was awful—like driving a tractor with constant clanking noises, and the car was covered in scratches, from the wheels to the body.

I rented a Volkswagen ID.3 but was given an Opel small SUV instead. Returning the electric car with just 5% battery left is very convenient. Luckily, the staff at the counter suggested I pay 20 euros for full insurance. The roads in Portugal make it easy to scratch the car, so I'm glad I opted for the damage waiver.

The car model was upgraded for free, and it was a brand-new car with only 300km mileage in Lisbon. Major rental companies are located within the terminal, while local brands require a shuttle bus (operates every 20 minutes) to pick up the car outside the airport in a commercial area.

The car was okay, but there were many scratches and marks, all of which were documented. However, various warnings appeared while driving, including issues with tire pressure, the roof, and the fuel tank.

The trip was delayed, and cancellation was not allowed, forcing an unwanted expense.

May be technically it is similar cars but when you booked Volvo xc60 “or similar” and get Citroen in the condition of dying old donkey it might be little bit disappointing.

Apart from the incorrect pickup location, everything else was very satisfactory. The pickup location provided in the booking was wrong; the actual location is 200 meters ahead of the incorrect address, across a crossroad.
