It took an hour to wait in line to process the paperwork during peak hours.

Picking up the car inside the airport was very convenient. There were 3 staff members at the counter, and though I had to wait in line for a bit, the car pickup area was just outside the door next to the counter. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a brand-new Audi Q5. Returning the car was simple—just followed QEEQ's instructions and returned it to the pickup location. An AVIS staff member was present to inspect the car on-site; I handed over the keys and was on my way. This car rental experience in Calgary was excellent!

They do try to upsell you a bit—suggesting a bigger car, pricier insurance, prepaying fuel and so on—but they’re not pushy about it. Just say no to everything if you’re not interested and it’s fine.

I actually asked to upgrade to the new Q5 myself, cost about an extra 100 RMB per day, which felt quite reasonable. It had assisted driving, a huge gas tank, smart headlights, and quattro AWD. On a full tank you can easily do around 800 km. In five days we covered Banff, Yoho, and Jasper with zero stress. Banff National Park is definitely worth a second trip. Just keep in mind rental cars will always have a few minor issues—just mark them down and take photos and you’ll be fine. The first black Q5 they gave me had a problem with the buttons, so they switched cars for me, which took a bit of time but wasn’t a big deal.

My English is not very good, but the staff were very patient. They helped me choose the car and explained the safety instructions multiple times until I fully understood.

The car rental return process at Calgary Airport is easy to locate, and the staff does not push hard to sell insurance if you choose not to buy it.

The staff at the counter were polite, but their heavy accent made communication a bit tricky even with the help of a translation app.

The process is very simple.

The pickup location was easy to find, and the car provided was a Ford, which was great to drive. The only drawback was that the car would automatically lock with the key inside, leaving us to experience roadside assistance in an area with no signal. We were quite worried at the time, but thankfully Avis staff resolved it quickly without causing too much delay to our trip.
