I confirmed my order early, but when I arrived at the store, they said there were no cars available and asked me to pay extra for a larger vehicle. Is this fair?

I don't speak English, and the rental staff didn't explain things clearly. For example: 1. Charging extra for picking up the car early (I could have waited, I just arrived early). 2. The gas tank wasn't full, and I don't know how they calculate charges. 3. The car I booked wasn't available, and they asked for an extra $100. This should be the rental company’s responsibility, why should I pay more? If a hotel doesn't have the room type I booked, wouldn't they upgrade me for free?

Hertz were fine. Managed to get the car a day early for just an extra $44 so that was handy!

upsold on a bigger car but it was a good recommendation due to our party size. could have done a better deal considering this was our second consecutive rental with them.

I booked a Jeep Cherokee, but they didn't have that vehicle. Subbed for a Nissan instead. OK, but prefer the Jeep.
