The steering felt a bit loose, which wasn't ideal given the narrow roads and gravel paths typical in Tasmania. The staff at the rental office were quite diligent and patient. I purchased full insurance from the rental company, and there were no pre-authorizations or deposits. They charged 300 AUD for insurance, and I was able to drive away immediately.

Picked up the car at Launceston Airport. On the third day, the car lost power on the way to Cradle Mountain. Since there was no cell signal in the mountains, we couldn't call for help. Fortunately, a passerby helped us call for assistance. We waited at the spot for over two hours, then got towed to Davenport where we got a free upgrade for the replacement car. It took four to five hours in total. The exaggerated part is they charged us extra after returning the car, and only acknowledged it after we queried the details through the bank.
