The car was quite old; it's my first time renting a vehicle with mileage exceeding 120,000 miles (close to 200,000 kilometers). The condition of the car was poor, with multiple spots of touch-up paint from scratches and a dirty air conditioning system.
In nearly 20 years of renting cars abroad, this is my first time needing additional insurance coverage, and the claims were not limited to one area. While a small scratch on the front bumper was an understandable charge, two other scratches on the rear bumper were contested and not accepted (we had pictures from pickup). The left front mudguard was claimed to be missing due to us, which was absurd (we made a careless mistake by not taking photos of it during pickup). Honestly, if the screws on your car's mudguard aren’t tightened properly and combined with the disastrous roads in your country, it’s no surprise car parts fall off during driving.
Overall, the visa-free policy of this country makes sense. The natural scenery is good, but the infrastructure is terrible. The roads are filled with potholes and washboard surfaces, making self-driving highly unsuitable.
A local car rental company with excellent service. The staff explained everything thoroughly and didn’t push any sales. The Subaru we rented was in good condition. Their service was impeccable; when we realized we'd left something in the small compartment of the trunk, the staff went out of their way to deliver it back to us.
