I saw that online reviews for this company were not very high. When I arrived at the store, I was told that the Ford EDGE model I had booked was unavailable and that I had been upgraded to a Volvo CX40. At the time, I assumed this was a free upgrade (since in hotels and car rentals in China, if the original room type or vehicle you booked is unavailable, upgrades are generally free). After picking up the car in the parking lot, I realized that the Volvo CX40 was smaller than the original EDGE, and my luggage wouldn't fit. So, I carefully examined their receipt and fee details and discovered that the upgrade to the Volvo CX40 incurred an extra charge of $48 per day—almost double the original price. I returned to the counter and told them I wouldn't accept this arrangement, after which they switched me back to the Ford EDGE. This indicates that they must have had the EDGE available from the start but intentionally claimed it was unavailable to lure customers into upgrading with hidden charges. After returning to my home country, I discovered that, in addition to the amount I had already prepaid through the rental platform, they charged my credit card another $326. About $100 of this was for an insurance upgrade, which I accept, but the remaining $200+ was for unclear charges. I am currently disputing these with the company. This rental company has serious integrity issues, and I advise everyone to be cautious when choosing them.

The service attitude was average. I especially didn't like how they proactively recommended upgrading to other car models or additional insurance. Also, I had an unusual experience with the fuel policy this time. In past rentals, cars were given and returned with a full tank. However, this time I missed that the contract had a 'FPO Accepted' clause, meaning 'Fuel Purchase Option.' This led to an extra charge for a full tank of fuel, including taxes and service fees, amounting to nearly $40, even though I returned the car with a full tank. Fortunately, I noticed this when I rented another car right after returning the first one, and I requested a refund. Currently, I'm waiting for the refund. Reminder to all rental friends: always clarify any fees you don't understand!

Overall, it was satisfactory. We arrived in Los Angeles at night and had to wait a long time for the rental company's shuttle. When it finally arrived, it took us to the DOLLAR location. Turns out they are the same company, but this was not mentioned during booking. If you arrive at night, you can take the DOLLAR shuttle directly since Thrifty is closed at night. At the DOLLAR counter, even though we bought full insurance, the staff tried to add other insurances, claiming they were important, and urged us to buy fuel. This was quite uncomfortable. Also, when picking up the car, the model we booked was not available, and the staff insisted we take a different model. After much back and forth, we managed to get a Corolla. The car had scratches, so we had to confirm with the staff and take photos to document it. Fortunately, the vehicle had no issues during use, and the return process was smooth. So far, no traffic violation fines have been received.
