Good car, poor service at pick up

This time, I rented from Avis in both Jordan and Israel. Before the pandemic, I felt that Avis had newer cars and relatively better prices. However, this time I was a bit disappointed. The cars were older and there were fewer models to choose from. Especially at the rental location in Israel, I almost couldn't rent a car because the trunk was too small. When I wanted to pay extra for a larger car, they told me there were no other options, despite it being the off-season. This location was actually quite big with plenty of cars in the parking lot, but most of them were for sale. This was the first time I saw Avis selling cars, and there were more cars for sale than for rent. I guess the three years of the pandemic had a big impact. I hope Avis can recover soon.

They only checked the original driver's license and bank card, and their attitude was good. The car pickup was quick.

In contrast to other car rental agencies, AVIS still uses plenty of paper. This spends time at the counter (I waited 40 minutes at the counter, although I was second in the line) and is also less safe. For instance, instead of SMSing the immobilizer's code, they write it on a little piece of paper within the car itself, thus making the car more vulnerable to theft.

They did not cancel the USD700 deposit automatically; I had to call and ask them to cancel it.

Booking platform is good, easy to use; price was great, information was complete. I used the service to ask them to contact AVIS for the deposit problem, but did not hear back from them.
